Is GameDevStory coming true?
In real life, I mean.
Some of the games that come out are astoundingly amateur. I can actually imagine a teenage developer picking two game types out of a hat, getting his mum to do the soundtrack, and his little sister to draw some graphics.
Is that what makes Game Dev Story the perfect game for iOS? The fact it mirrors reality.
What does their new game Hot Springs Story reflect in real-life?
Will it have the same impact even though the subject matter isn' quite as easy to relate to?

GDS had a special something that made it good. Take any part of it alone and it's not very impressive- controls, ui, graphics, sound, etc. But put them together and it just works. It does reflect the early days of the AppStore though, when you can take a small team and make a hit.
Hot Springs Story was obviously not created with western players in mind. The subject matter is a bit foreign to most people, but the core mechanics are familiar, and that's what makes it so fun. People like having control, and building up a relaxing spa in a few taps appeals to a lot of people. Being able to quickly renovate and rethink the "zen" of it adds a layer of strategy, giving people more than just a sim.
I hope they continue bringing their old titles to the table, if not make a brand new one from the ground up.
