The Giftanapp App
Having an app made seems like a very good idea, and I've had some interest from a few developers, so I'd like to get some suggestions for features or ideas.
If it gets made it'll definitely have the ability for the user to get a push notification when an offer is posted, the ability for the user to submit and and view others responses to the giveaway, in both text and image form, and an auto login feature to make it easy to use, but hard to cheat.
Also there's the issue of pricing. It can either be free with ads, paid, or free with an IAP upgrade to remove ads. In order for Giftanapp to be successful it has to generate enough income to support itself, and the daily giveaways. If paid, it'd most likely be a .99 one time purchase for access to the giveaways through the app. When you think about it, that's a good deal for all the apps you could win. If free, the ads would have to generate enough to justify being free.
What do you think?

Re: The Giftanapp App
The iAds idea probably would work, but the site should probably expand some more before you spend time/money getting developers to make an app. Actually, at this point, I'm not really sure what features could be on the app besides forum support. There just isn't enough content on the site to warrant an app just yet in my opinion.
Re: The Giftanapp App
It wouldn't be for a while, if I have one made.
And my goal with it is simplicity and usability. The core idea of Giftanapp is getting you the apps you want, and Id want that reflected in my app. At this point, and in the forceable future, an alternative to coming to the website is the only thing the app will provide. I'd like to have the help section, and and maybe the user offers section, but that's about it.
Benefits of an app: I'm on a chart that's visited by millions of people daily, the whole process would be simpler, more people would be willing to participate
Negatives: costly, more maintenance, time consuming for me, potential to do poorly sales wise.

Re: The Giftanapp App
How about making the site mobile-compatible first (if that hasn't been implemented already)?
Re: The Giftanapp App
It is actually! Unfortunately it's a semi uselss formation beta feature right now though. You can only view the forum as a guest. There should be a link in the footer. It's a step in the right direction at least.
Re: The Giftanapp App
I might have asked you this already, but is it a phpBB mod or some Forummotion extension? I've used a few mods myself, but I've found none of them to work so well. (The last one I tried caused users to stay on the mobile theme even on the computer, and I had to reset their theme via ACP.)
Re: The Giftanapp App
It's a forumotion optimization. I don't even have the option to disable it, so I can only hope people with iPhones aren't being directed to a useless version of the site.
